Abstract:
The aim of this research was to identify the stages and level of adoption of wheat cultivation technology on the terraces by the farmers and to determine the relationship between the degree of their adoption of this technology and their independent variables studied, and also to determine the relationship between their degree of adoption and the characteristics of the idea. Also the research aimed to know the results of cultivation of wheat on the terraces, and the most important problems facing them in this area from the respondents point of view.The study was conducted in six villages in the governorate of Dakahlia and they are village dekerness, village Kafr Abu Nasser in district dekerness, village Tamay, village Kafr Ghannam in district of Sinblaween, village of Baramon, village Kafr Baramon in district mansura, with larger districts in terms of the area of cultivating wheat on the terraces, this study was done on a regular random sample which has been selected from the studied villages in Sinblaween and Mansoura Mansoura districts among 2089 farmers by using Krigsi and Morgan equation to determine the sample size, and thus the sample size reached 325 responses distributed as follows 53 respondents of the village of Kafr Abu Nasser, 36 respondents in the village of Dekerness, 74 respondents of the village of Tamay, 88 respondents of the village of Kafr Ghannam, 48 respondents of the village of Baramon 26 respondent of the village of Kafr AL Baramon. Data was collected by using personal interview questionnaire which agree and achieve the goals of the research. Frequencies, percentages and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze data statistically and extract results. The most important results can be summarized as follows: all respondents (100%) had heard about the idea of cultivation of wheat on the terraces which they had passed awareness and attention phase, and attention phase was found that than half of them (2,46%) had begun to search for a lot of information about the idea. In the evaluation phase about 40.9 of them begin to compare the costs and return of cultivation of wheat on the terraces and in the stage of experimentation (61.5%) tried the cultivation of wheat the terraces in a small area of land, either in the stage of adoption (61.5%) that they will continue to follow the technology of cultivating wheat on terraces and give advice to othersThree-quarters of respondents (70. 7%) their degree of adopting the cultivation of wheat on the terraces was high. A significant relationship positive at the level of 0.01 between the degree of respondents adoption of the technology of cultivation wheat on the terraces and the possessions of agricultural machinery, possession of agricultural and size of cultivated area, the average of productivity of the crop, the presence of significant relationship at the level of 0.05 for the age.The most important results of farmers application of the technology of cultivation wheat on the terraces from the point of view respondents are: low amount of water used by 92.6%, increased productivity of the crop by 80.9%, increased the distribution of wheat by 84.6%, low amount of seed used by 75.9%, increased the density of plant by 71.7%The most important problems faced the farmers when cultivating wheat on the terraces from their point of view are: higher wages of agricultural employment by 92.3%, lack of trained labor harvest by 87.6%, difficulty of auto harvest of planted area due to on the presence of differences between the terraces 87.6%, shortages in agricultural machinery in the time of cultivating by 78.1%, lack of training courses specialized to upgrade the farmers knowledge on the benefits of the cultivation of wheat on the terraces 78.1%, lack of a number extension seminars to awareness farmers on how to practice cultivation of wheat on the terraces 73.8%.
