Abstract:
Two field experiments were carried out at Abu-Hammad District, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, during two successive summer seasons of 2017 and 2018 to study the impact of three seed priming methods (hydro-priming, hormonal priming with GA3 and osmo-priming with PEG-6000) and three yeast extract concentrations [control (without spraying), 20 ml/l and 40 ml/l] on yield and some of its attributes of peanut cultivar “Giza 6”. A split plot design with three replications was used. Combined analysis results revealed that the yeast extract concentrations failed to cause significant effect on the studied traits except pod number/plant, fodder yield/fad., and seed oil content. The non-significant effect was in favor of foliar spraying with 20 ml/l for branch number/plant, pod weight/plant, seed number/pod, pod yield/fad., seed yield/fad., seed oil content and oil yield/fad. Seed priming methods acted significantly on each of good seedling percentage, branch number/plant, pod number/plant, pod weight/plant, 100-seed weight, pod, seed and oil yields/fad., Seed hormonal priming gave high value for each of the abovementioned traits except branch number/plant. Seed hormonal priming with 20 ml/l yeast extract foliar spraying gave high value for each of pod number/plant, pod weight/plant and seed oil content.
