Egyptian journalistic institutions and the technological challenges of the digital age. Al-Ahram Foundation as a model
The study sought to identify the technological challenges of the digital age on the media work system in general, and journalistic work in particular, and paper journalism in particular, in press institutions by applying it to Al-Ahram Foundation. on paper newspapers The first page was analyzed over the course of a year, and the study used two interview tools, "focused discussion groups" to collect qualitative data for the interview, which were derived from a group of respondents at one time. The study concluded a set of results, the most important of which are: Al-Ahram Foundation The institution is managed individually and is mostly dominated by chairmen of boards of directors. This results in changing policies with each official and the absence of continuity The study also revealed the absence of knowledge in the practice of work within the institution, which is confirmed by the absence of planning of any kind, the absence of follow-up, the absence of oversight, the absence of accountability, and the absence of criteria for calculating success or failure. And also the lack of integration of departments within the institution. And the releases separate from each other and work independently and in the style of isolated islands. The study revealed the absence of administrative stability within the institution as a result of conflicting policies. And the journalistic work turned into a functional work performed routinely and without creativity of any kind. The study also confirmed the absence of job satisfaction almost completely among the employees of the institution as a result of low salaries and low commission as a result of market fluctuations, weak social care, weak health care, and a defect in the promotions system. The results also showed that the production tools at Al-Ahram Foundation need a complete review, as the printing presses are old-fashioned and in need of change. Paper and inks depend on imports, as the results of the study showed that the Al-Ahram Foundation owns large assets, but they are frozen and cannot be disposed of by the institution due to legal and administrative restrictions, considering the capital of these institutions as public money. He must lose the sensitivity of the markets, not know the actual needs of the readers and the method of responding to these needs, and the absence of competencies in this field.
