Abstract: |
The aim of this current research is to investigate the effectiveness of an eclectic treatment program in reducing Obsessive and Compulsive Acts Symptoms. A sample of one university student her age was 22 years old, who suffers from obsessive and compulsive Acts. The Clinical approach with (the case study) and the experimental approach with (a one-group pretest–posttest design) were used. The research tools consisted of a Personal Interview Form (prepared by the researcher), the observation The Sacks Sentence Completion Test (SSCT) (Prepared by Joseph Sacks ; translated by Ahmed Salameh, 1970), the TAT test (Prepared by Leopold Bellak , Translated by Muhammad Khattab, 2017), a Case Self-Report, Yale Brown Scale for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (Goodman et al., 1989), Obsessional Moudsley Compulsive Inventory ( Lindzay & Paul , 2000)
and a program based on eclectic therapy theory )Prepared by the researcher. The results of the study can be clarified according to three main aspects: -
1- The Case Self-Report: according to the case, there is a noticeable improvement in many aspects, especially with regard to the rituals of the repeating of the lesser ablution and prayer. Even though the compulsive acts are not completely disappeared, the number of times that ablution is repeated is much less than before. She enjoys now self-acceptance and the idea of perfectionism has become unacceptable to her.
2- The Clinical Case Study (Sacks): After applying the Sacks test, a comparison between the pre and post test was made, and this can be explained as follows:
First: The family sphere: With regard to the attitude towards mother, father, and family unity, there has been a relative improvement.
Second: The field of sex (gender): the attitude towards women was the only direction in which there was disturbance and it remained the same.
Third: The field of interpersonal relationships: There has been a marked improvement in the attitude towards subordinates, the colleagues at work or school.
Fourth: the person’s idea of himself: there has been a relative improvement in the following aspects (the attitude towards fears, feelings of guilt, and the past), and there has been a marked improvement in the following aspects (the attitude towards self-abilities, the future, and the goals).
3- The Application Of The Treatment Program (Yale Brown for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Obsessional Moudsley Compulsive Inventory), the results indicated:
- There were statistically significant differences in obsessive and compulsive acts in the case between the pretest and the post test, as for applying the Yale Brown scale, Obsessional Moudsley Compulsive Inventory.
- There were statistically significant differences in obsessive and compulsive acts in the case between the post test and the initial follow-up test, due to the spread of the Corona pandemic, as anxiety increased during that period, fear increased, and hygiene obsessions increased.
- There were not statistically significant differences in obsessive and compulsive acts in the case between the post test and the second follow-up test, which indicates the continued effectiveness of the treatment program.
