SYNTHESIS OF SOME NEW DIARYL SULFIDES AND DIARYL SULFONES CONTAINING 1,2,3-THIADIAZOLE MOIETY

4-Amino-4'-acetyldiphenyl sulphide (I) had been reacted with semicarbazide to give the respective semicarbazone (II), which being reacted with thionyl chloride gave thc new 1,2,3-thiadiazole derivative (III). Compound III was condensed with three aromatic aldehydes to provide the respective three new Schiff bases (IVa-c). Oxidation of IVa-c with H2O2/CH3COOH gave the three new sulphones (Va-c), which were prepared also by an alternative method.
