Abstract:
Abstract : This study sheds light on one of the important Ottoman manuscripts, held by the Egyptian Dar al-Kutub in Cairo, under the number (22 maˊref aˊma "general knowledge" Turki Talaat). This copy, dated 1237 AH (1821AD), consists of a single volume, written in The Naskh script . The manuscript contains poems known as (Muḥammediyye), a famous of nine thousand one hundred and nineteen poetic verses, written in ancient Ottoman Turkish, with the exception of chapter titles containing poetic verses written in Arabic. This manuscript was Authored by Muhammad ibn Salih, known as Ibn Al-Kateb "the son of the scribe"(Yazıcıoğlu Meḥmed Efendi-Bazigi Zade), who died in (855AH/1451AD). He organized it in three axes (Creation, the Prophet Muhammed - peace be upon him -, and the Resurrection " Kıyâmet" ). The manuscript began with the date of creation and mention of creation since the dawn of time, and concluded with verses dealing with other things related to the afterlife, such as Gog and Magog and the sunrise from the West and Paradise and hell and mentioned the resurrection, Pass on the mention of the honorable prophets, and the biography of the Prophet - peace be upon him – and his attributes, and mentioned his family, and some of his companions, and all And related issues, such as the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, and his emigration, His miracles, his conquests…etc., In addition to explanations of Quranic verses. The study aims at introducing the manuscript in our hands, its Author, its contents, and publishing its colorful and multiple miniatures that Scattered in its pages, which are many illustrations explaining what was mentioned in the manuscript, numbered ninety-six miniatures, Fifty-three explain the biography of the Prophet , published her for the first time, in addition to the study of these miniatures, Archaeological artistic study, to come out with the most important artistic features, and compared with those in the Ottoman era, to find out the similarities and differences between the artists, and the extent of their conformity with reality and the truth or not. In general, the miniatures of this manuscript hade a unique set of artistic features that make it distinct from other illustrated Ottoman manuscripts, perhaps the most important of which is the historical narrative of the miniatures without the drawing of living creatures.
