The study aimed to know the relationship between peer pressure and cognitive distortions and the trend towards the use of psychoactive substances in a sample of adolescents, with knowledge of the differences between male and female adolescents in both cognitive distortions and peer pressure and the trend towards substance abuse. The sample of the study was initially from a non-clinical sample of (n = 300) of male and female adolescents, and the researcher excluded (50 forms) either for not completing some responses or for the stereotypedness of the responses, or due to the death of a parent or the divorce of the parents until the sample was homogeneous, and the final study sample settled On (n = 250) (150 male adolescents) (100 female adolescents) their ages ranged between 13-17 years, and the average age of adolescents was 14.65 with a standard deviation of (0.76), and the average age of adolescent girls was 14.39 years With a standard deviation of (0.73), and there were no statistically significant differences in the average age between male and female adolescents, the study tools were applied to military high school students for boys, and high school students for girls in Zagazig, and the study sample is for parents who live together And none of them suffers from the separation of his parents (such as divorce or death), and the adolescents of the study sample are a non-clinical sample that has not been exposed to any psychotic diagnosis, and the study sample is well suited to studying the study variables, and the data collection tools are a general data form (prepared by the researcher) The peer pressure scale (prepared by Imad Muhammad Mukhaimer), the cognitive distortions scale (prepared by the researcher) and the measure of attitude towards the use of psychoactive substances (prepared by the researcher). The results of the study showed the following: 1. There is a positive correlation between cognitive distortions and the tendency towards drug abuse among the adolescents under study. 2. There is a positive correlation between peer pressure and the tendency towards drug abuse among the adolescents under study. 3. There are statistically significant differences between males and females in the trend towards substance abuse. 4. There are statistically significant differences between males and females in cognitive distortions. 5. There are statistically significant differences between males and females in peer pressure.
