This study aims to reveal the impact of the two types of e-learning (synchronous / asynchronous) in the personal learning environment on developing the skills of some applications of technological innovations and the need for cognition among students of educational technology. Specific Education, Zagazig University, they were randomly selected, then divided into two experimental groups, the first experimental group is taught using the personal learning environment according to the synchronous e-learning pattern, while the second experimental group is taught using the personal learning environment according to the asynchronous e-learning pattern, and the study followed the curriculum Semi-experimental to answer the research questions, and the researcher used three research tools, the first: an achievement test to measure the cognitive aspects of the skills of some applications of technological innovations, the second: a observation card for the performance of the skills of some applications of technological innovations, and the third: a measure of the need for cognition, and the study found that there are differences Statistically significant at the level (0.05) between the mean scores of the two experimental groups (personal learning environment according to the synchronous e-learning pattern/ personal learning environment according to the asynchronous e-learning pattern) in the post application of the cognitive achievement test related to the skills of some applications of technological innovations in favor of the second experimental group. The results also found that there was no statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the mean scores of the two experimental groups (personal learning environment according to synchronous e-learning style / personal learning environment according to asynchronous e-learning style) in the post application of the observation card related to the skills of some The applications of technological innovations and the scale of the need for cognition, and in light of the results of the study, the researcher recommends the need to pay attention to personal learning according to the two patterns of synchronous and asynchronous e-learning.
