Abstract:
This paper investigates the effect of nanomaterial on the mechanical properties, microstructures and corrosion of embedded steel bars in cement mortar. Different types of cement mortar mixes with changing the percentage of nanocarbon tube by weight of cement were used. In the experimental program, several mixes containing cement, natural sand, water, and carbon nanotubes with percentages 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5% by weight of cement were tested. Compressive strength of cement mortar, sorbitivity, corrosion of embedded steel bars, and microstructure were investigated. The results showed that the using of nano carbon tubes has modified some properties of cement mortar such as, increasing the compressive strength of cubes about 42% at 2% of nanotube, increased the resistance of corrosion, and decreased the porosity of cement mortar.
