A Suggested Program based on the Cognitive Load Theory in Teaching Prosody of the Arabic Poetry and its Effect on Developing Prosodic Writing Skills and Rhyme Scheme of the Faculty of Education Students Dr. Salwa Hassan Mohamed Basal The current research aimed at investigating the effect of a suggested program based on the cognitive load theory on teaching prosody of the Arabic poetry to develop prosodic writing skills and rhyme scheme of the Faculty of Education Students. To achieve the previously mentioned aim, the following procedures were followed; the prosodic writing and rhyme scheme skills required for the Faculty of Education students were determined. A prosodic writing skills test and rhyme scheme skills test were designed. The suggested program, teacher's guide and student's worksheets were prepared. The quasi-experimental design was adopted in the research. Participants were assigned into one group. The experiment was carried out during the second semester of the academic year 2020/2021. Data collected were statistically analyzed using the appropriate statistical analysis, comparing the results of both pre-post administrations results. Finally, results were discussed and interpreted in light of the research hypotheses. Recommendations and suggestions for further research were also introduced. Results revealed that: There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the research group students in the pre and post administration of the prosodic writing skills test and rhyme scheme skills test as a whole and their sub-skills in favor of the post administration. There was also a positive correlation between the scores of the research group students in the post administration of the prosodic writing and rhyme scheme skills tests. In light of the previously mentioned results, the researcher recommended using the cognitive load theory in teaching prosody of Arabic poetry and rhyme scheme to develop prosodic writing and rhyme scheme of faculty of Education students. It is also recommended to make the best use of the research instruments to develop Arabic poetry skills through practical applications.
