The aim of the present research is to develop the skills of lateral thinking and decision-making skills among middle school students using a program based on Scamper's strategy in teaching mathematics. The research sample was selected from the first grade preparatory school in Mit Ghamr Intermediate School, belonging to Mite Ghamr educational administration/ Dakahlia Governorate. It was divided into: an experimental group (N = 40) and a control group (N = 40). The researcher prepared a test in lateral thinking skills and a test in decision-making skills; they were applied before and after on the two study groups. The results showed: there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the two applications (pre and post) to test the lateral thinking skills in favor of the average scores of the post application, and there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students and the scores of the control group students in the post application to test the lateral thinking skills in favor of the experimental group students. There also was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the two applications (pre and post) to test decision-making skills in favor of the average scores of the post-application, and there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group students and the scores of the control group students in the post-application of the decision-taking skills test in favor of the experimental group students. That is, the scamper-based program led to the development of lateral thinking skills (as a total ability or as sub-abilities) and decision-making skills (as a total ability or as sub-abilities) among the students of the research sample. The results also revealed that there was a statistically significant positive correlation (0.01) between the lateral thinking and decision-making of the experimental group after the completion of the study.
