The current research aims to identify the obstacles and challenges facing faculty members and students when they use e-learning techniques. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and dealt with two aspects: providing a comprehensive description of the obstacles to employing e-learning and its tools at Sultan Qaboos University, as well as studying and analyzing the data collected. From the field study on the axes of the two research tools, a sample of professors amounted to (86) faculty members, and a sample of students 437 male and female students. A questionnaire was prepared for the obstacles to employing e-learning techniques for faculty members, containing 6 dimensions: (skills to use e-learning techniques, motivation towards using e-learning techniques E-learning techniques, the difficulty of following up and containing the student individually, the large burden on the teacher, the fear of dealing with educational technology, the failure to spread the culture of e-learning), and a questionnaire was prepared for the obstacles to employing e-learning technologies for students, containing 6 dimensions as well (the lack of the Internet for some At home, lack of computer and internet skills, lack of desire for e-learning, failure to meet the electronic system E-learning for students’ educational needs, fear and dread of using e-learning, lack of non-verbal communication). The results indicated that there were no differences between faculty members due to the gender variable, while there were differences between them due to the type of college in favor of practical colleges, as well as no differences between students due to the gender variable. Differences attributed to the variable of the type of college in favor of practical colleges, and one of the most important recommendations of the research: holding training courses for the use of e-learning techniques and employing it effectively for faculty members and students, and taking all measures from the concerned authorities that help and facilitate for everyone to use e-learning techniques and its various tools in teaching and assessment.
