Abstract:
Vortioxetine hydrobromide (VOR) is an antidepressant drug with high binding affinity to wide range of seratonin receptors in the central nervous system. Therefore, there has been a great concern that VOR can cause more depression leading to suicidality. For this reason, determination of VOR in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids is crucial. Herein, we report a cost-effective home-made carbon nanotube bulk modified stencil printed electrode (CNTs-SP) for the electrochemical determination of VOR in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids by linear sweep voltammmetry (LSV). The sensitivity of the method is derived from the controlled interfacial adsorption of VOR and the favorable interaction with the CNTs sites. Under optimal experimental conditions, the method was linear over the concentration range from 3 × 10−8 to 5 × 10−6 M with a detection limit of 1 × 10−8 M in aqueous solution and biological fluids. The method is simple, rapid, and challenging to green chemistry.
