Abstract:
This chapter focused on the main conclusions and recommendations that prepared in the chapters existing in the book. In addition, some results from recently scientific published research works that considered the practical approaches for agricultural sustainability in Egypt and alleviating environmental stresses for enhancing sustainable crop production. Therefore, the chapter in Part I includes an introduction about mitigating environmental stresses for agricultural sustainability in Egypt and Part II contains information about improve the crop tolerance to abiotic stresses such as drought, high temperature, environmental pollution and salinity in crop plants. Whereas, Part III explained the recent approaches for biotic stresses, and contain varietal differences and their relation to brown rot disease resistance and effect of soil type and crop rotation on the disease in potato, advanced methods in controlling late blight in potato and importance of faba bean diseases besides developing rust resistance in wheat. Moreover, Part IV is about advanced procedures in improving crop productivity. It includess the role of He–Ne LASER, seed technology, biochemical and molecular tools and importance of mycorrhizae in improving crop productivity. Part V is devoted to sustainability of environmental resources from a crop production perspective. This part includes sustainable use and optimizing inputs management for natural resources by crop rotations and bio-fertilizer in different climatic zones that relevant for agriculture in Egypt, and concentrate on different field crops, as well as highlights on Quinoa and Cassava as promising crops to increase food security in Egypt. Finally, set of recommendations were performed in this chapter for future research work to motivate the future researches towards sustainability approach which is a main strategic concept of the Egyptian government.
