A total of 669, Gerres filamentosus (Cuvier, 1829) were randomly collected (January-December 2010) of trawling catch from Hurghada area ( Latitude 27o.26’ and Longitude 33o.81’), in the Egyptian Red Sea coast. Due to no detailed study on mortality of this fish species, the present work was undertaken to evaluate the impact of fishing on a relatively small studied in the region and get information on the mortality parameters and exploitation rate based on the previous origin article by me (this single author) on age and growth studies conducted in 2017. This study showed that the growth parameters of the population as follow: L∞ = 42.1222 cm, K= 0.2946 yr-1 and t0 = 0.0347 (Combined Sexes). Total mortality (Z) was -0.708, -0.4786 and -0.5553 for males, females and combined sexes, respectively. Natural mortality (M) was 0.7285, 0.7100 and 0.7056 for males, females and combined sexes, respectively. Fishing mortality (F) was -1.4365, -1.1886 and -1.2609 for males, females and combined sexes, respectively. The exploitation rate (E): 2.0289, 2.4835 and 2.2707 for males, females and combined sexes, respectively. Proved that this species is under exploitation by trawling method. Relative Yield per Recruit (Y-/R) was -1.6285, -2.0209 and -1.9693 for males, females and combined sexes, respectively.
