The study philosophically discusses Descartes’s saying “I think therefore I am” against the background of Jacques Lacan's saying “I think where I do not exist and I am found where I do not think”, two sayings that evoke aspects of modernity as a transition to postmodernism with all its different impetus. The discussion takes place at the linguistic, logical and semantic level of the two expressions. And how is deconstructing the cogito in favor of diversity and intellectual difference, by virtue of the linguistic shift that swept contemporary philosophy (linguistic analysis - deconstruction - interpretation - structural trends). The Cartesian Cogito views thought from the angle of a pure contemplative presence without other horizons, and study places the cogito in the circle of language. To clarify the semantic aspects that appear as if the philosophy of language is the main driver of the ego, especially the fact that the ego is built like a language system, exactly where there are metaphors and metaphors that allow the existence of the other. The significance of this is that the two categories express two complete eras with all their intellectual features. One of them is the spirit of Western thought (subjectivity) that has marked the modern era (the age of cogito). And the second: the decline of the self during the current postmodern era, when the discourse of endings, the end of man, the end of history, the end of truth.
