Abstract:
Philosophically, democracy embodies some of the paradoxes between theory and practice. They are paradoxes that are not without logical and political connotations together, because politics is the art of the possible that achieves (in the long run) what is impossible. In terms of- or so it is assumed- managing societies, achieving their goals, and drawing horizons for the public imagination. Perhaps, the paradoxes of the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze are a kind of process that exists in conceptual structures such as the concept of democracy and politics in general. That is why Deleuze discusses them in the context of a philosophical rooting of the issue as the highest desires of man. The study attempts to capture this thread for clarification, disclosure and analysis. On the basis that paradoxes test the capabilities of democracy as mediums expressing life and public activities, which must accompany freedom, human rights and justice. There is the paradox of intension and extension, the paradox of name and named, the paradox of will and authority, the paradox of presence and absence. In every paradox, there are two aspects: rooting to reveal the roots of democracy and openness with new possibilities for coexistence and meeting with others. Deleuze believes that the issue is due to the vitality of the human being as a willing creative being who can translate desires to produce history and patterns of life. Because Desire has active policies to devise diverse practices with the flow of life. Desire is not a reaction, but rather a development and storm that stormed with cynicism or political ideology. That is why Deleuze saw in capitalism an ideological function that suppresses human energies and puts them in the framework of political employment in favor of political hegemony, which is the economy of artificial, contrived and suppressed desires. While paradoxes in politics may become open acts of the gender of the desire for difference and the practice of pluralism. Perhaps this is the Deleuzeian shift that detects what is political within what is philosophical. Every concept in the circle of democracy is a form of politicization of desire that must be liberated and innovated, because it exists in the form of change, the process of different opportunities for a better life.
