Abstract:
The present study aimed to highlight the reality of the process of measurement and diagnosis in kindergartens in particular. The objectives of the current study were as follows: * Identifying the tools used in the process of measuring and diagnozing the kindergarten children with intellectual disabilities and classifying them according to the degree of disability . * Providing a proposal for the tools that must be used in the various aspects of the process of measuring and diagnozing the kindergarten children’s intellectual disabilities and classifying them according to the degree of disability . Sixty two of kindergarten teachers and psychologists from the Intellectual Education Institute " the east" and Altamiz (Excellence) Institute " for girls in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, participated as the sample of this study . In order to measure the variables of the current study, the researchers have designed a questionnaire to explore the efficiency of the tools used in the early detection and intervention program of measuring and diagnozing the kindergarten children with intellectual disabilities, and which can be used to answer the questions of the current study. The questionnaire consists of four dimensions ( the diversity of measurement tools , family involvement in the process of measuring and diagnozing, the importance of the measurement and diagnosis). After applying the questionnaire and calculating the means of the dimensions and items, the results indicated that the highest mean of the dimensions was that of "the importance of the measurement and diagnosis dimension" with a mean of ( 19.04 ). "The process of applying the tests" came in the second place with a mean of ( 18.93 ). Then, "the diversity of measurement tools dimension" ( 18.88 ). Finally, "family involvement in the process of measuring and diagnozing dimension" ( 14.94 ). The previous results are considered as logical consequence according to the reality of the practice in kindergarten. The highest mean of the items in each dimension was as follows : first, "the role of the kindergarten’s responsible should be limited to the application of one measurement of intelligence" with a mean of (2.50). Second, "to take in her consideration the guardian’s opinion about the selection of tests before being applied to the child" (2.12). Then, "measuring the severity of disability is very important part in terms of early diagnosis" with a mean of ( 2.80 ) . The researchers concluded the study by a number of recommendations , which can be utilized in the field of the measuring and diagnozing of the early disability in order to confront it through the early intervention.
