Abstract: |
The present study intended to explore the kindergarten teachers’ skills and practices in the light of the contemporary trends of education. The objectives of the current study are determined as follows:
- Identifying the degree of the availability of skills and practices that kindergarten teachers have, from mothers and supervisors' point of view.
- Identifying whether there are significant differences in the degree of the availability of skills and practices that kindergarten teachers have in terms of their qualification, specialization, experience, or the number of courses that have been enrolled .
The sample of the current study was selected from the population of the kindergartens’ supervisors and children’ s mothers. They were ( 29 ) supervisors and ( 40 ) mothers. The kindergartens that were selected in this study were: ( Manarat Al- Riyadh , Qadet Najed, Ajial Qernata and Ahed). In order to measure the variables of the current study, the researchers have designed a questionnaire to determine the kindergarten teachers’ skills and practices from mothers and supervisors' point of view, and in the light of the contemporary trends of education.
The results found that among the means of the five domains of the scale , the highest mean was that of the cognitive skills domain ( 25.02 ). The social and ethical skills domain came in the second place with a mean of ( 24.56 ). Then the effective skills domain with a mean of ( 24.46 ). After that we had the technical skills domain with a mean of ( 24.26 ). Whereas, the life skills domain came in the last place with a mean of ( 23.59 ). Regarding every individual domain, the means were varied. In the first domain, the highest mean (2.62) was for the item of "treating children in the spirit of kindness and patience". In the second domain, the item that "the teacher should know the ways by which the children acquire the instructions and general rules for the activity and its explanation", took the highest mean (2.55 ). Whereas in the third domain, the only highest mean (2.59 ) was for the item that "the teacher should be committed to the Islamic ethics in words and with actions, since she is the model for them". In the fourth domain, the item that "the teacher should have the ability to use the computer" has occupied the first place with a mean of ( 2.55 ). In the fifth domain, the highest mean (2.69 ) was for the item that "the teacher should be aware of the conditions of the security and safety in whatever related to the practices of the activities
