Sugar beet crop represents important great in Egypt, not only for producing the sugar from roots, but also use of leaves and tops for animal feeding. Mechanical harvesting of sugar beet crop is not widespread in Egypt, whereas manual harvesting is the prevalent method. The development had been presented to solve the problems observed in the prevalent manual and mechanical harvesting operation using topping machine and digger (more time, labor, damage, root losses and costs as well as loss of vegetative growth). So, the main goal of the present work was to develop a single-row peanut harvester to achieve mechanical harvesting of sugar beet crop, and also allows utilizing of the vegetative growth. The crop (a top polygerm beet variety) was planted at El-qureen City, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, to evaluate the performance of the developed harvester under two variables: four forward speeds of 1.4, 2.0, 2.6 and 3.2km/h and four pulling chain speeds about 53.1, 58.6, 62.2 and 67.5m/min. The results cleared that the best values of operating parameters were 2.6 km/h forward speed and 62.2 m/min chain speed at constant digging depth, soil moisture content, and penetration angle of 27.5 cm, 15.9% (d.b.) and 25°, respectively.
