Abstract:
In summary, we created 3D liver organoids using the major types of cells found in hepatic lobules and demonstrated the efficiency of our model in screening for toxicity from multiple types of drugs with results that were supported by the in vivo findings from rats. The organoid model provides a scalable system for toxicity testing in human cells that more closely mimics liver tissue than 2D single‐cell tissue culture and that could both corroborate animal data and help to reduce the extensive reliance on animal models in this field.
