The current study is a support to the previous work (Article no.1 in the researches list) and aimed to confirm that the anticancer drugs (cisplatin, CIS) can induce dangerous side effects to normal tissues especially the highly proliferative ones as bone marrow. Also, antioxidants (as vitamin C and curcumin) help to diminish cisplatin cytotoxicity. In the present work, the micronucleus test was performed to evaluate the genotoxicity (the frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes, MNPCEs) induced by CIS in bone marrow cells of male albino rats .The experimental animals were divided into 9 groups: Group1(administered dist. water ), group2(injected intraperitoneally with physiological saline; 0.9 % sodium chloride), group3(orally received 0.05% gum acacia solution), group4(orally administered curcumin ; 20 mg/kg b.wt), group5(orally administered vitamin C; 100 mg/kg b.wt), group6(injected intraperitoneally with cisplatin; 0.4 mg/kg b.wt), group7( orally received curcumin then were injected intraperitoneally with cisplatin), group8(orally received vitamin C then were injected intraperitoneally with cisplatin) and group9 (orally received curcumin as well as vitamin C then were injected intraperitoneally with cisplatin . The current results confirmed that the animals treated with both curcumin and vitamin C then injected with cisplatin showed a significant reduction in the frequency of MNPCEs compared to other groups.
