Model tests of composite reinforced soil flexible culvert system

Flexible culvert structures are widely used, in present time for many purposes such as water drainage, sewer structures and bridge substitute. Popularity grew with this form of structure due to its ease of construction, being prefabricated segments, beside the cost benefits over more traditional structures. This paper is concerned with the behavior of flexible culvert embedded in sand reinforced with layer(s) of metal inclusion. The effect of culvert diameter, inclusion surface roughness and the effect of using two inclusion layers with different positions were investigated.
