Abstract:
Portland cement pastes, slag cement pastes, and slag-lime pastes were prepared using the initial water solid ratios of 0.25 and 0.40 to produce low-porosity and normal-porosity pastes, respectively. Electrical conductance was measured as a function of time of hydration, at 30 and 45 degrees C for each paste. The variations of the electrical conductivity with hydration, time could be related to the hydrolysis and the later formation of hydration products in, each of. the cement pastes. The mechanism of cementing action during the early stages of hydration of each paste seems to be responsible for the observed variations in electrical conductance.
