Abstract:
Linear stability theory is applied to examine the effect of a normal a.c. electric field on the stability of the natural convection that occurs in a dielectric fluid layer between two inclined plates that are maintained at different temperatures. The power-series method is used to obtain the eigenvalue equation which is then solved numerically to obtain the stable and unstable solutions. Factors affecting the stability are discussed.
