The Effectiveness Of A Proposed Strategy Based On The Rhetorical Analysis Approach To Develop Analytical Reading Skills And Literary Taste For Secondary Stage Students. Abstract : This study aimed to develop analytical reading skills and literary taste for the first-year secondary school students. Those skills needed for them to study the literary and reading texts that are prescribed to. The study sample consisted of (70) first-year secondary school students, represented the research group which was divided into two groups: experimental, that studied literary and reading texts using the proposed strategy based on the rhetorical analysis approach and a control group studied in the usual way. The research problem was that there was obvious weakness and deficiency among the first-year secondary school students in analytical reading skills needed for them to study the literary and reading texts they are studying in the Arabic course and also their lack of literary taste for reading texts. Those skills were revealed by the researcher's exploratory study and the results of previous relevant research and studies emphasized its importance. The research has been based on preparing two lists, the first for Analytical Reading skills of literary and reading texts for the first-year secondary school students and the second list for literary taste skills needed for them in their study of literary and reading texts prescribed to them. The research also has been based on two tests to measure the target skills in the analytical reading and literary taste. The results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.01) between the mean score of the experimental and control groups in the post-administration of the two tests of the analytical reading skills and literary taste skills as a whole in favor of the experimental group and there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-administration of the two tests of the analytical reading skills and literary taste skills in each sub-skill separately in favor of the experimental group, which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed strategy based on the rhetorical analysis approach to develop analytical reading skills and literary taste for the research group.
