Abstract:
Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding is one of the commonest manifestations of female patients with gynecological problems. Endometrial lesions are considered one of the debilitating etiologies and common causes of failure of blind medical treatment. Patients and methods: The study was carried out on 60 female patients with AUB during the period from April 2014 to August 2015 at Radiology department of Zagazig university hospitals. All patients presented with abnormal uterine bleeding and their age ranged between 26-70 years. All patients were subjected to: Full history taking, general examination, laboratory investigation, transvaginal ultrasonography, Doppler study of the uterine arteries using the terms of IETA. The results were correlated to the histopathological picture of the endometrium. Results: The most common endometrial histopathology was hyperplasia (26 cases, 43.3%) followed by endometrial polyps (14 cases, 23.3%), 10 cases of endometrial carcinoma (16.7%), 6 case of atrophic endometrium (10%) then disordered proliferative endometrium (4 cases, 6.7%). Regarding the value of IETA criteria in assessment of endometrial lesions there was significant difference between benign and malignant endometrial lesions in the following criteria: endometrial thickness, color flow score, vascular pattern, endo-myometrial junction, endometrial midline, echogenic pattern. However; presence of intra-cavitary fluid and synechiae were found to have non-significant value.
