Abstract: |
The current research aimed to produce curtain fabrics with innovative designs using the double weave and automatic embroidery which make the appearance of curtains more attractive. Three samples of curtain fabrics were manufactured using cotton as raw materials where three yarns No; 16, 20 and 24 E were produced using open-end machine and woven as Wefts in order to reduce the production costs and improve the functional properties of this system. Moreover, the aesthetic appearance of the double weaving system is well matching with the curtain fabrics and automatic embroidery was performed with specific design at the surface of curtain fabrics providing more aesthetic appearance.
Tensile strength, elongation ratio, thickness, resistance for abrasion, resistance for water absorption and air permeability degree were carried out on the studied fabrics which manufactured by the Institute of Measurement and Calibration, Giza, Egypt. In addition, quality evaluation of these fabrics was carried out by specialists in clothing and textiles using a questionnaire. The correlation coefficient and regression equation was calculated for each yarns and property.
The half-term correlation coefficient of the Spearman-Brown questionnaire was calculated and the mean and standard deviations were used. One-Way Anova analysis was calculated for the average of manufactured curtain assessments, the LSD test was used and the least significant difference as well. The obtained results show that:
- Fabrics made from yarn No; 16 recorded the highest tensile strength with highest thickness and abrasion resistance,
- Fabrics made from yarn No; 24 recorded the highest elongation ratio, water absorption and air permeability, Fabrics made from yarn No; 24 showed the best properties as fabrics used for curtains manufacturing,
- The first curtain was the best in term of functional properties, while the third was the worst one according to the curtain specialists,
- The first curtain was the best in term of aesthetic aspect, while the second was the worst one according to the curtain specialists,
- The first curtain was the best in term of innovation aspect, while the second was the worst one according to the curtain specialists,
- The best axes were functional aspect followed by the aesthetic aspect and innovation aspect.
