Abstract:
Stability constants and related thermodynamic parameters characterizing the formation of divalent Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu complexes with alizarin S were determined potentiometrically. The results show that the complex formation is an exothermic process. Conductometric and photometric titrations were carried out to illustrate the stoichiometric composition of the complexes formed. The mode of complexation was ascertained by IR spectra. The electrical conductivities of alizarin and its complexes were measured in the temperature range 298-400 K. The conduction takes place according to the hopping mechanism.
