Abstract:
The thermal behaviour of clay and calcareous clays containing 1.25, 14.81, and 22.05\% lime corresponding to CaO/SiO2 molar ratios of 0.026, 0.396, and 0.681, respectively, fired from 450 degrees up to 1150 degrees C for one hour was investigated. The results show the great difference in the thermal behaviour of the selected samples, and the effect of CaO/SiO2 molar ratio on the formed phases as well as the physico-mechanical properties of the fired products. The optimum firing temperature for each sample was also determined.
