Abstract:
Noncontact and nondestructive photothermal deflection method (PDS) has been used for the detection of subsurface defects of different shapes, different thermal conductivities, different sizes and at different depths from the sample surface. The results are consistent with the assumption that the heat flow is impeded at each edge of the defect.
