The current study aimed to investigate the human needs levels in both: urban and rural,
male and female, according to the theory of Maslow, determine the ratio of gender and urban
- rural gap, identify the compatibility of human needs orders in both sample: urban and rural,
male and female, according to their ranking in Maslow theory, testing the significant of
differences between respondents in rural and urban areas with respect to each level of human
needs levels, testing the significant of differences between respondents males and females in
both: the rural, as well as in urban areas, separately, with respect to each level of human needs
levels, identify the correlation relationships between the studied independent variables and the
degree of every level of human needs levels and determine the degree of the relative
contribution of the studied independent variables relevant link together, in explaining the
overall variance for every level of human needs levels. The current study was carried out
depending on the social survey sample approach in Sharkia governorate at Al-Hammadeen
village (Al-Husseiniya district) as a rural area, and Awlad sakr city (Awlad sakr district) as a
urban area by simple random sampling method. The total sample size was (300 respondents)
as 5% of the total number of families, they have been distributed in an equal distribution
method, data was collected during January and February 2016 by a questionnaire with
personal interviewing method with heads of households, they were selected by systemic
random sampling method. These data were analyzed by: percentages, duplicates, mean,
"Mann-Whitney" test, "Pearson correlation coefficient" test, multiple regression "Step Wise"
test. The most important findings of the study were: (1) The order of the human needs of the
respondents in the urban sample match in arranged with Maslow's theory, while disagreed
with it and took place between the needs of the respondents in the rural, in descending order,
as follows: physiological needs, and the needs of safety, then the needs of belonging and love,
then the needs of self-realization, and finally the needs of respect and appreciation. (2) The
order of human needs for respondents females matched in arranged with Maslow's theory,
while disagreed with it and took place between the needs of the respondents males in
descending order as follows: physiological needs, then the needs of belonging and love, then
the needs of safety, then the needs of self-realization, and finally the needs of respect and
appreciation. (3) There were six independent variables together explained about 45.7% of the
total variation in the level of biological and physiological needs, the number of years of
education explained 26.7% of them, the monthly income of the family among 7.5%. There
were five independent variables together explain about 53% of the total variation in the level
of safety needs, the biological and physiological needs explained 46.8% of them, 1.9% of
ambition. There are three independent variables together explain about 12.2% of the total
variation in the level of the needs of the membership, which interpreted the biological and
physiological needs of 6.9%, 4.1% fatalism. There were two variables together explain about
14.6% of the total variation in the level of needs respect and appreciation, both biological and
physiological needs of 8.1%, and the age at first marriage is 6.5%. There were five
independent variables together explain about 50.8% of the total variation in the level of the
needs of self-realization, which interpreted the planning for the future, 42.1%, biological and
physiological needs of 3.8%, the needs of the respect and appreciation of 1.9%.
