There were no statistically significant differences in reproductive and contraceptive history between two groups. The implementation of an educational program aimed at improving women’s knowledge related to IUD based on scientific background, and in the light of the needs identified in the pre-test assessment was successful in improving their knowledge and correction of believed rumors of IUD compared to the pretest. It can be concluded that, IUD was contraceptive of choice for women of most potential reproductive age group. Implementation of an educational program was associated with improvement in women's knowledge. The study recommended that, regular group education should be designed based on current scientific knowledge to impact correct and accurate knowledge about IUD. This is to avoid misinformation, wrong teaching and misbelieves that constitute the present structured teaching on IUD.
