Abstract:
Equivalent width is calculated for potassium and nickel resonance lines at 7665 and 2320 Angstrom. An efficient analytic Voigt profile expressions based on a simple combination of the pure Doppler and pure Lorentz limiting forms of the equivalent width have been used. A comparison is made between the results of this work and the numerical results which have been previously evaluated exactly by Jansson and Korb. The curves of growth, i.e., the equivalent width, W, versus tau(D) are provided. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
