Influence of age and circulating-igY on some behavioural patterns of chicks during the first week of life.

Abstract:
A total 60 of one day old fayoumi chicks were reared in experimental chambers for assessing the brooding behaviors and welfare of the chicks in 1st week of brooding. The results as shown in this study revealed that chick,s behaviors were changed in different days of 1st week of brooding, where the activity of the chicks was the highest in 7th day of brooding. The chicks in 1st revealed increase of resting behavior. The photoperiod during brooding time had significant effect on brooding behaviors, where the chicks reared in supplementary light were more active than the chicks raered on normal day light. There is a positive correlation between the withdrawal of circulating IgY from the chick’s body and the level of activity, suggesting to activate their early immunity.
