Abstract:
The results from the cubic polynomial (CP) formula of the square of the angular velocity and the nuclear moments of inertia are compared with those from the variable moment of inertia (VMI) model and the available experimental information on transition energies for yrast line in even-even nuclei. The evaluated model. parameters lead to in excellent fit for all energy levels (1 - 24). The calculated critical spin for backbending in the J-omega(2) plot is found to be in agreement with the experimental data.
