Excitation processes due to proton and antiproton impacts on H(2s) atoms

Abstract:
The effects of the coupling to the 1s and the 2p states, as well as the back coupling to the 2s state, on the excitation processes by proton and antiproton impacts on H(2s) atoms are investigated by using the impact parameter approach. Cross sections for the excitations to the 31 states are calculated in the incident energy range 3 less than or equal to E less than or equal to 2500 keV. The effect of the electric charge of the projectile on the cross sections is studied.
