Abstract:
The alkylation of 2- or 4-pyridone (1 and 4) or 6-amino-2-thiouracil (19) was carried out in K2CO3 or alcoholic KOH using benzyl bromide, 1,4-bis(bromomethyl)benzene (6), 2,6-bis(bromomethyl)pyridine (11), 2,3-bis(bromomethyl)quinoxaline (14), and cyanuric chloride (22), leading to the formation of asymmetric N- and O-alkylated products in different ratios.
