Abstract:
The in vitro antibacterial activity of propolis, florfenicol andtheir combination was evaluated against Aeromonas hydrophilapathogen. Also , the in vivo efficacy of propolis ,florfenicol andtheir combination was investigated on Clarias lazera fishexperimentally infected with A. hydro ph ila , after theiradministration at their therapeutic dose levels (10 gm Ikg diet) and(l0 mg I kg b.wt in feed) for 10 successive days, respectively,First ExperimentI-In-vitro studies:A- Sensitivity of A. hvdrophila strain to propolis, florfenicoland their combination (Disc diffusion method). In vitro sensitivity test of A. hydrophila strain againstpropolis, florfenicol and their combination using agar disc diffusionmethod showed no inhibition zone to propolis, a clear zone ofinhibition of (25mm) in diameter to florfenicol and a clear zone ofinhibition of (27mm) in diameter to their combination.B- Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for propolis(broth dilution method)The employed MIC of pro po lis- ethanolic-extract is 80 ug/ml.Il-In-vivo studies:One hundred and sixty catfish (Clarias lazera) were classified intoeight equal groups each of20.Group 1:fish were served as non infected non treated.
