Abstract:
The growth of the poultry production industry is hampered by several factors including, colibacillosis caused by E. coli which is a known significant disease of poultry in the developing countries. The control of this microbe depends on the prophylactic uFosfomycin is a phosphonic acid derivative. It is active against Gramnegative and positive bacteria including E.coli , Proteus, Klebsiella,Enterobacter, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus. The present work was conducted to evaluate the efficacy offosfomycin in healthy and E. coli experimentally infected chicks. The sensitivity of isolated E.coli strains of avian origin (078) ISinvestigated in vitro to different antimicrobial agents. The effect oftherapeutic dose of Ca fosfomycin (40 mglK.g b.wt.) in drinking waterfor 5 successive days in healthy and experimentally infected chicks withE.coli was studied. Moreover, the effects of therapeutic dose of Cafosfomycin on haematological, AST, uric acid and histopathologicalprofile as well as the impact on the phagocytic activity were studied.
