Abstract:
Dromedary Camels are famous for their peculiar adaptationto the harsh conditions prevailing in arid zones and to a lesser extentin to semi-arid zone. They possess a distinct behavioural, physiological and nutritional adaptive mechanisms that enable themwithstand extreme direct and indirect environmental stressesTrace elements deficiencies in ruminants are common, butthe incidence and importance are probably underestimated becauseof subclinical forms of deficiencies which can occur and gounnoticed for long period. Moreover, manifestations of the diseasesappear to be widely spread in animals reared in arid land andsometimes confusing, so proper diagnosis could not only be reachedby clinical examination alone but also through soil and diet analysisin addition to specific clinical findings, as well as response tospecific mineral supplementation. Thus, this study was trying to draw some attention on themost important aspects of: occurrence of some nutritionaldeficiency diseases in one humped camel as well as determining theeffect of these diseases on some haematological and biochemicalparameters.- Also studying the concentrations of some trace elements inplants and soil in order to investigate the probable cause/s ofdeficiency diseases and design treatment plans.Filed study:This study was carried out on (80) adult camels (camelusdromedaries) of both sex selected from different farms aged
