Abstract:
Duck industry in Egypt and other countries in the world isexposed to many diseases affecting growth rates and productionparticularly bacterial causes. So this work aimed to study somedisease conditions of ducklings specially those causing respiratorymanifestations.A total of 293 ducklings were collected from differentlocalities at Sharkia Governorate either in moribund state or freshlydead. The examined samples yielded III positive bacterial isolatesfrom different organs. Theses isolates were 65 (58.56%)Escherichia coli; 30(27.02%) Salmonella species ; 9( 8.11 %)Pasteurella species; 6 (5.40%) Staphylococcus species; 1 (. 90%)Riemerella; 8 (8.42%) mixed infection of Eicoli and Salmonella; 4(5.40%) mixed infection of Pasteurella and E.coli; 2 (2.81 %) mixedinfection Staphylococci and Eicoli. The prevalence of bacterial isolates in the different internalorgans of examined ducklings revealed that the percentage of Ecoliisolates were 50.77%, 33.85%, 15.38% in liver, lung and heartrespectively. Meanwhile, the of Salmonella percentage were43.33%, 23.33%, 16.67%, 10% and 6.67% in liver, kidney, heart, lung and yolk sac respectively. While, Pasteurella percentageswere 55.56%, 33.33% and 11.11 % in liver, heart and lung. On otherhand, the Riemerella anatipestifer isolate was detected only in theliver 100%.All bacterial isolates of E.coli , Salmonellae,Pasteurellae andRiemerella were biochemically identified with both conventionalbiochemical test and API20 tests.
