Abstract:
This study was done to detect the emergency of vancomycin resistance in pathogenic staphylococci, so a total of 134 samples were isolated from different sources, 73 out of them samples of 134samples were positivestaphylococci from which 31 were coagulase positive. Samples wereinvestigated for the period of six months from April to September20 11. Thesamples were collected from the patients of different inpatient and outpatientdepartments of the University Hospital ,private hospital and private labs as(pus, urine, blood cultures, sputum and C.S.F) and from different farms inEgypt and sales of meat like (mastitic milk and meat products(sausage, minced meat and burger). After cultivation of all samples onto mannitol salt agar, percentage ofgrowth for milk samples was71.9% (46/64) ,for meat products40.9%(9/22)was and for human samples was39.6%(l9/48) but percentage of mannitolfermentation for milk samples was30.4%(l4/46) ,for meat products was55.6% (5/9) and for human samples was68.4%(13119).For identification of different pigments of staphylococci, samples werecultivated onto milk agar and the result showed that golden yellow colourexpressed by S. aureus and white colour expressed by S. epidermidis, thepercentage of golden yellow colour in milk samples were 37.8%,meatproduct samples(77.8%) and human samples(57.9%).Samples were cultivated onto L.H media(OIF test)for differentiationbetween staphylococci and micrococci as staphylococci has ability toferment glucose an aerobically but micrococci cannot do it.
