Bacteriological studies on pasteurellosis for ostrich vaccination

Abstract:
Tn Egypt, ostrich industry is of economic value in fashionindustry of feather and leather as well as red meat production of lowin fat and cholesterol and good source of iron and protein alternativebeef.So, we need more studies to focus about the veterinary aspectrelated to infectious diseases which incriminated to threaten thisindustry, so pasteurellosis is one of the most important diseases ofostriches.So, this study was planned an attempt to throw spotlights uponthe prevalence of Pasteurella species in Egypt, studying their culturecharacteristic, biochemical, serological typing and the sensitivity ofPasteurella species isolates to vanous antimicrobial agent,pathogenicity of Pasteurella species to young mice and the percentageof bipolarity character as well as preparation of a suitable vaccine,evaluation of the humeral Immune response by indirecthaemagglutination technique.For attending these goals 300 samples were collected from 5farms of ostrich chicks in Egypt. It would appear to be 45 isolates ofPasteurella species.First farm in Anshas were collected from it 30 samples, secondfarm in Shepeen El-Kanater were collected from it 40 samples, thirdfarm in El-Tal El-Kabeer were collected from it 100 samples, fourthfarm in Menia El-Kameh were collected from it 100 samples, lastlyfifth farm in Belbies were collected from it 30 samples.
