Abstract:
Macrolides are broad spectrum antibacterial, widely used in the treatment of respiratory tract infections. Azithromycin (one of macrolides) shows anti-inflammatory actions in several animal models of acute inflammation and clinical benefit when given for cystic fibrosis in human.ducks. Embryonated SPF chicken eggs and Vero cells were used to isolate andpropagate the virus followed by virus identification by HI, IF and virusneutralization assays. The collected samples were inoculated on 10 day old embryonated SPFchicken eggs. The virus was isolated from 35/50 and 20/50 samples fromclinically infected and apparently healthy chickens with a percentage of 70%and 40%, respectively. In ducks, the virus was isolated from 21/30 samples and19/30 samples that collected from clinically infected and apparently healthyducks with a percentage of 70% and 63.3 %, respectively. No hemorrhagicembryos were detected in some samples that collected from diseased chickensand ducks. All collected samples were subjected to inoculation on Vero cells andexamined daily for detection of cytopathic effect. In chickens, the samples thatshowed CPE were 30/50 and 16/50 samples that collected from clinicallyinfected and apparently healthy chickens with a percentage of 60% and 32%,respectively. In ducks, AIV was isolated from 14/30 samples and 17/30 sampleswith a percentage of 46.6 %and 56.6 %, respectively.
