Abstract:
A total of two hundred and sixteen wastewater samples wereollected from three different wastewater drainage effluents located.t different district in Sharkia govemorate, Egypt. The collectedamples were examined for determining the prevalence and survivalif Salmonella enteric subspecies enteric serovars and Escherichiazoli species in different seasons. Furthermore, the occurrence ofcertain virulence genes in the some isolated bacteria wasinvestigated. Finally, the efficiency of some chemical disinfectantswas evaluated on detected bacteria. The obtained resultssummarized as following:I-Investigation of 216 wastewater samples collected at two depthpoints showed that;1- At 30cm depth from surface, S. enterica prevailed in apercentage of 26.85 %(29 out of 108).Meanwhile, at 1.5m depthwas 14.81 %(16 out of 108).Moreover, in general the prevalenceof Salmonella enterica was higher in summer followed byspring, autumn and winter in a percentage of 27.78% (15 out of27),22.22% (12 out of27), 20.37% (11 out of27) and12.96% (7out of 27), respectively.2-The prevalence of E.coli species in wastewater at 30cm and 1.5mdepth from the surface were 39.8% (43 out of 108) and 20.37%(22 out of 108), respectively. Meanwhile, E.coli prevalence indifferent seasons showed higher percentage in summer followedby spring, autumn and winter as following 40.74% (22 out of27),31.48% (17 out of 27),27.78% (15 out of 27)and 20.37% (11
