Abstract:
Fifty-five male white New Zealand rabbits were used to investigate the leukogram, humoral and cellular immune responses of levamisole, vitamin C and their combination respectively in non-vaccinated rabbits and in those vaccinated with Past. multocida vaccRabbits were divided into 11 groups; each group consisted of 5 rabbits. The test was divided into 3 experiments.First exp. (treated non-vaccinated rabbits) includes 4 groups:Group (1): rabbits were kept as normal control.Group (2): rabbits were injected S/C with levamisole 10 mg/kg b.wt./ day for 3 days, then rest for 3 days and the dose was repeated for another 3 days.Group (3): rabbits were given vitamin C 1gm / liter of drinking water for 9 successive days.Group (4): rabbits were treated with combined administration of levamisole and vitamin C as in groups (2 and 3) respectively.Blood samples were taken from each group at 10, 20 and 30 days from the beginning of the immunostimulants administration.Second exp. (rabbits treated then vaccinated) includes:Group (5): rabbits were vaccinated with formalized killed polyvalent vaccine against Past. multocida 1ml/kg b.wt. by S/C.
