Abstract:
from 20 human dermatophytes and 5 ringworm infected in dogs, eleven isolates of M. canis were obtained the isolates were subjectedfor phenotypical and genotypical methods of identification.Phenolytical methods for identification of isolates includemacromorphology, micromorphology, as well as growth ondifferential media were done. Macromorphological identificationrevealed the presence of four types of growth low cottony withpigment, low cottony without pigment, high cottony with pigment andhigh cottony without pigment.Micromprphological identification was done by analysis ofquantity of macroconidia, measuring macro conidia and types ofmacroconidia. The quantification of macroconidia divided the isolates producingmacroconidia in three scales 0-10, 11-50 and more than 50 thpf.Measuring of macroconidia of M canis in this study was rangingfrom 7.1-13.2 urn width and 27.3-76 urn in length while eight isolatesof M canis in the present study showed classical type ofmacroconidia, two of them showed annomalis macro conidia anddifferential media while rice lactritmel agar and rice grain enhancedthe production of yellow pigment from M canis, the color atdermatophyte test medium changed to red color.
