Bacterial diseasess causing diarrhea in horses

Abstract:
This work was designed to the epidemiological study for theprevalence of bacterial diseases causing diarrhea and antimicrobialsensitivity test of most common bacterial agent causing diarrhea inhorse. In addition using ELISA for detecting antibodies againstsalmonella spp and IPMA as serological test for detection antibodiesagainst Lawsonia. Multiplex PCR as a recent tool and rapid test fordiagnosis more than bacterial agent in one tube.The prevlance of diarrheal syndrome at El Sharkia Govemorate and El Zahraa station was 67.5%where 54 horses of 80 with symptoms of diarrhea. While Incidence of diarrheal syndromes at Equine Center and Large Animal Hospital at University of Minnesota was74where 187 out from 250 were infected.Prevlance rate at El Sharkia Govemorate and El Zahraa station was 74.3 %( 29 out from 39) in horses above lyears, 60.7% (17 out from 28) in horses at age from 6months to lyear and 61.5%(8 outfrom 13) in horses less than 6months.However the prevalence rate was high77.4% (72 out from 93) atages from 6month to lyears ,then ages above 1 year in Equine Center, Large Animal Hospital at University of Minnesota 74.6%(109 out from 146) and 54.5%(6 out from 11) in horses less than 6 monthThe seasonal occurrence showed that high prevalence duringautumn 76%(26 out from 34) followed by spring 68.7 22.2%(11 out from 16), winter 57.7% (12 out from 21) and lower prevalence in summer season 55.5% (5 out from 9)at El Sharkia Govemorate andEL Zahraa station.
