Abstract:
In this work some bacteriological and immunological studieson Nigella sativa (N. sativa) were carried out as for evaluation ofthe N. saliva antibacterial and immunomodulatory effects on theimmune cells, specifically monocyte. Blood samples were collectedfrom healthy chickens for separation of peripheral bloodmononuclear cells. At first, one hundred twenty native breed (baladi) chickens ofaverage weight about 700 gm/chicken were used in the study. Thechickens were divided in to two experimental groups. The firstgroup contained sixty chickens and received black seed oil.. Thesecond group also contained sixty chickens and left as control.Chickens in both groups feeded with regular maintenance ration.Blood and serum were collected from each group at (2, 4 and 6weeks) post receiving the black seed oil.So, at the beginning culturing of peripheral blood mononuclearcells and this method has described a simple reproducible methodfor obtaining a high yield viable monocytes. Theimmunomodulatory effect of the black seed oil group have thetypical morphologic same the control group.
